| Review: | Best Instructors “I was in the education business for 42 years before retiring. Offshore Sailing School’s instructors are among the best teachers I’ve seen. They impart technical information in clear and easily understood ways. They put theory into a practical context. Their patience seems inexhaustible and their enjoyment of sailing is contagious! | Review: | Bucket List checkbox completed It was so satisfying to stop being a want-to-be sailor as I was for many years and finally join the ranks of those who actually learned to sail. There is tremendous satisfaction in knowing I now can harness nature. To be able to say I want to go from here to there, know how to adjust the sails based on the direction of the wind – very few people can say they can do that. There is something extremely relaxing about cruising along with just the sound of the wind and water – no motor. Offshore Sailing has a fantastic program that combines just the right amount of book, class and practical experience. My wife and I are sold and plan to eventually retire on a catamaran every winter. We will eventually go back to Offshore for some of their graduate level navigation courses simply because the experience so far with their program has proven to be top class. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Fast Track Bareboat Certification An outstanding course that exceeded expectations. I was a moderately experienced sailor who learned a lot from the first hour on the water. Your emphasis on correct sail trim with practical application was outstanding. Thanks for a great vacation! The Captiva Island resort is an excellent facility for a couple or family to experience sailing. The staff tailored the course to me and my wife (a sailing neophyte), they challenged me and easily addressed my wife's uncertainty about the whole sailing experience. We are now looking forward to bareboat sailing in the Caribbean this summer. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Learn to Sail/Bareboat Prep Even as an avid sailor of 20yrs racing and cruising, Offshore Sailing School taught me proper terminology and skills I had not known before. The instructors are absolutely wonderful, very knowledgeable and patient. The boats are well maintained and in great condition, I mean, how about a school that has it's own brand/special design keelboat! I know there are other schools less expensive but have heard too many stories of how they just get you by and don't properly teach you. I know from racing that US Sailing is a superior certification than ASA. Offshore is worth every penny and delivers at the highest level in every way! Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | an intense way to learn to sail quickly and well We took the Fast Track to Cruising for Bareboats as a family from South Seas Resort in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida in July, 2010. The course was intense, but well worth it. There was a good mix of classroom instruction and hands-on experience for all of us. Receiving the study materials in advance was very helpful, and the itinerary was accurate yet flexible to our daily circumstances, weather, etc. It really brought us together as a family. We all got bareboat certification on a 46ft catamaran, quite an accomplishment for 2 young teenagers. We are already applying our knowledge on a small catamaran until we can move up to the big leagues. We are planning to do a bareboat rental soon and have a goal to start racing this year. This will be an experience you will remember forever! Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Fort Myers Florida Colgate 26 I was very happy to have had the instructor that was assigned to me. He took pride in his job, boat and me! Very kind and patient. Being a female, I was nervous to sign up for the class and fearful, but the instructor’s confidence in himself and knowledge put me at ease. The boat was very well kept … looked brand new. I felt safe which allowed me to learn the sailing skills to keep me safe. I love sailing. Thank you so much Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Great Family Experience As the result of a feature article in the NYTimes I signed up my entire family for the 3 day weekend Basic Keel Boat Class. I have three kids, ages 12,9,and 7 and they loved it. It was really cool learning to sail in NY Harbor, in the shadow of the Statue of Liberty. The boats were all in great shape with plenty of room for a family of 5 plus the instructor. Our instructor, Clay Martin, couldn't have been better. Very relaxed, friendly, great with the kids, really made the whole experience very enjoyable. It was really a great family experience, I would absolutely recommend it as a must do! Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Excellent instructor; professional organization My husband and I took the Fast Track to Cruising class in St. Petersburg, FL at the end of September, 2010. I cannot say enough good things about the company as a whole, but especially about our instructor. His attitude was always calm and positive, even when I was panicking (which was often), and he had the patience of a saint. In one week I went from being a total novice to being the helmsman of a 49-foot yacht. I am still amazed at just how much we learned in one week's time. My husband had taken a keelboat class in the spring with a different company, and he said that Offshore was a much more professional organization. We plan to take the next class (Coastal Navigation), and will take it only through Offshore. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Sailing Competence in Three Days New York City (Chelsea Piers) Location: This is the best quick course I have taken in any subject. I have sailed on and off for years, but in just three days my level of confidence and my sailing competence improved hugely. The weekend after the course I was out on my trimaran dinghy (Weta 4.4), and I felt utterly in control despite the adverse conditions. Instructor Barbara Stetson is a superb teacher on and off the water. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Learned how much I didn't know I have been sailing for 45 years and learned more in 8 days than I ever thought I would have. Had I taken this course 45 years ago, I would have won more races. I took the Learn to Sail and live abooard course with a friend. We wanted to start with the basics so that we both had the same knowledge as we prepare to buy a boat and sail around the world. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Great instructors are the stars of this program The Offshore Sailing program provides a great opportunity for sailors of all levels to hone their skills. The boats are in excellent condition, well out-fitted for training and the instructors are prepared to teach and organized. I have attended 2 other schools in the past and would highly recommend this program to anyone. It was far superior to anything else I have experienced and worth every penny invested. Comments [ 1 ] |

| Review: | expected more for cost Captiva Island, Florida. Took two courses, basic keelboat and bareboat. The first course was on a Colgate 26. The instructor was very knowledgeable and patient. The three day class was good starting at 8 and ending around 4. The second class, bareboat certifacation was a four day course a different instructor and on a 49 foot Hunter. Two days the class ended around 2 oclock. I did learn a lot at the school since I had only sailed on inland lakes. I felt that more docking procedures could have been taught, more of what to expect when leasing a yacht, and more hands on sailing. The resort basically shutdown at six, including the pool. The seven Colgate 26 keelboats sat idle while we had to share the Hunter with another group. I felt that as soon as the subject of the day was covered, class was over. The brochure stated that class room instruction was from 8 AM to 6PM which never happened. I do not have any other school to compare Offshore with but feel it could have been better. Comments [ 2 ] |

| Review: | Solid instruction both on the water and in classr I strategically gave my wife a Basic Keel Boat course in Jersey City, NJ in late April. The format was 2 weekends. The classroom time covered all material in syllabus in an easy to understand format that progressed from the most basics. The sailing portion was excellent. The instructor let everyone make mistakes such that we could all learn from them. This included trying to sail moderately overcanvassed and then attempting to hove-to fully canvassed in 20 knott of wind. We repeatedly practiced tacking/jibing and all the rules of the road as we evaded cruiseships, tugs and many ferries. The instructors (3) had really laid-back attitudes, yet were able to make everyone feel at ease. They separated couples such that women would learn independant of their spouses. I would not recommend a course in April, the temperature on the water was barely over 40F. The Colgate 26 is an excellent learning platform. The cockpit is huge and comfortable for at least 6 adults. The boat feels solid and performs well. Oh... 4 years later my wife has yet to forgive me for the "gift", but we purchased our first sailboat soon after the course.... so all is well Comments [ 0 ] |
