Review: A WONDERFUL PATIENT INSTRUCTOR
When my husband and I were searching for a sailing school in the Holland, MI area, we were fortunate enough to choose GT Sailing School.

I had not sailed for over 30 years and had never had any experience in docking and undocking a sailboat. Capt. Kim was able to guide me through all the procedures for this and had me do it over and over again until I gained the self confidence that I lacked.

Additionally, we went through the man-over-board drill and the rest of the ASA program. Capt. Kim is a great instructor that has the patience to and experience to bring out the best in his students. I am grateful for the opportunity to have had such a wonderful experienced teacher. I feel that the experience has given me a good foothold in boat handling and safety. I wold recommend this school to anyone seeking sailing skills.

Review: Captains Service and Sailboat Quality
As a long time sailor and ASA certified instructor, I do not own a sailboat, but prefer to charter sailboats. My family and I love the GT school sailboats for many reasons, including: they are well maintained, they have new hardware, and everything feels solid.

We have always found the service excellent and Captain Kim has been overly accommodating for us, such as meeting our frequent schedule changes.

We are really looking forward to 2011 sailing season.

Review: GT Sailing Excellent experience
Early this spring I talked my wife into taking an ASA class. After doing some research and attending Strictly Sail,
(Chicago) we decided that GT Sailing had what we needed. Captain Kim kept in touch via emails and let us know what to expect. Staying on the boat saved some bucks and also gave us a better insight into owning our own. All areas of the course were covered thoroughly with a hands-on approach. Our experience was good enough for us to sign-up for the bareboat charter course in the fall. Three classes and a great experience. Highly recommended.

Review: Research pays off: GT Sailing is the Best
I've personally sailed for over 35 years, having taught myself everything I know about sailing - good and bad.

Fortunately I'm smart enough to know that there is much I don't know about sailing so when my 21 year old daughter, with no true sailing experience, asked me to attend the Basic Keel Boat Sailing and Basic Coastal Cruising courses with her, while vacationing near Holland Michigan, I jumped at the chance.

After much research, many phone conversations, countless emails and even sending someone to review his boats in person, we signed on with GT Sailing in Holland, Michigan.

Captain Kim does a phenomenal job of teaching the book material through a very real and hands-on approach that is incredibly effective. Within the first hour of our lesson, he had my daughter manuevering his 38' boat in and out of the slip as if she been doing so her entire life. By the end of the Coastal Cruising course both of our knowledge, skills and confidence levels had reached new heights.

How Captain Kim can keep his patience and remain so calm I don’t know, but he does it well.

Captain Kim has a knack for being able to translate the theory and text material into practical applications and the patience to make sure we fully understood it before moving on.

It is obvious that he takes his responsibility seriously and while he does make the courses enjoyable, he also insures that everyone has a complete understanding of the concepts, regulations, safety concerns, and responsibilities as well as practical knowledge by having done every excercise multiple times.

We intend on taking Bareboat Chartering and Coastal Navigation at our earliest opportunity and would not consider doing so with anyone other than Captain Kim at GT Sailing.

Review: Basic Keelboat Course
I took the Basic Keelboat Course with Captain Kim this summer. Although I have done some sailing with my husband, I now have the confidence and skill to participate. Captain Kim is a very good instructor. I highly recommend him. I am signing up to take Basic Coastal Cruising with him as well. I live in Chicago, so learning to sail in Holland, MI was really a treat. Lake Macatawa is a great place to get started --- now on to the big lake!

Review: quality instruction
Captain Kim did an excellent job teaching the sailing requirements of ASA 101 and 103 certification. He observed our existing sailing skills and started from there, making sure we learned and practiced what was next for us to learn. He was exceeingly professional and well as friendly and hospitable. Great experience and great learning experience. And so much fun!

Review: Fun and Flexible
Captain Kim was excellent, teaching both my husband and me, as well as taking time to teach a bit to our small children, ages 5 and 7. We were able to learn the necessary skills, and enjoy some great wind!

Review: Rave Reviews from California
My husband and I took the 104 class from Captain Kim; our first sail on the Great Lakes. The class was great (I can now actually explain to you how a diesel engine works - amazing!!), Capt. Kim was wonderful, and his 70's vintage 35' C&C is impeccably restored and beautiful. It was well worth the journey!

Review: Happy Wife
In a nutshell...my wife took a previous sailing course elsewhere and did not do well. Captain Kim was able to teach her properly and give her confidence. She now is enthusiastic about sailing, and we are shopping for a boat

Review: Great experience
My wife and I spent a weekend at GT sailing in September 07. We had a great time. My wife, who was a novice sailer felt very comfortable. I had some sailing experience prior to the course, but only on smaller boats. For me, GT was a great way to learn the correct way to handle a larger boat. Due in no small part to our experience, we are now looking to buy a mid-sized keel boat. The classes are not cheap, but I think we will save the money by not damaging our boat!
