| Review: | ASA 101 - Basic Keelboat Certified and loving it! After looking at a number of schools, I've settled on Tradewinds for the following reasons: - They are cost competitive - For the price to take the boat out for a day, you can take it out for the whole month. This is great as i want to sail as much as I can without burning a whole in my pocket. - Not pushy - Their have a wide range of older boats in the 28-32ft. This is important because it's what i'd likely be buying if i ever choose to buy a mono. In either case, my son and I just got our ASA 101 - Basic Keelboat certification through them, with Jonathan Bloom the instructor. I can tell you that our instructor was great! He explained everything very well and helped us complete a 3 day class in 2 days. The 3rd day was spent practicing. I fully endorse Jonathan to anybody wanting to learn to sail. He was very methodical and great with newbies (we have never sailed before). His class was not a bootcamp but rather a great place to learn. Although there were drills, he was very nice and allowed us to make mistakes so that we can learn from them. All in all a very good experience. We'll be going back to Tradewinds for further certifications this summer. Meanwhile we'll enjoy their amenities and sailing club privileges. |
